Muscled out!

I thought I should share these images with you – as they have amazed me. These are a few piccies of body builders. While I have no real problem with the sport, it doesn’t exactly keep me up at night, but surely what these people do to their bodies is almost as bad as those weighing in a 200+kgs from too many Maccy Ds?

These professionals look comical – almost like caricatures. I wonder how much these sportsmen and women earn? What happens when they want to give up – do they have to train at a slower pace before their bodies wither to jelly? Someone tell me what happens when body builders don’t do it anymore!

Where does he buy his clothes?

Look at the traps on that!

  1. The old man is not so bad… but the others?! Oh my gosh why would you want to look like that? And how many steroids would you need to take! It’s so disgusting, I don’t know who in their right mind would find that attractive!

  2. can you imagine the old man in his hey-day!?

  3. This is terrifying me.

I mean, built guys are very attractive but extremes, ay?

  4. :) That first guy is photoshopped, but the rest are real (I think)
Sadly, professional bodybuilders all use steroids. If you look at the natural guys, they are nowhere near as big.
They don’t make much money either- unless you’re one of the top guys, you spend way more on food and supplements than you can ever hope to make. Most of them do it out of passion (obsession?)
My boyfriend is a natural bodybuilder (no steroids). You should see the amount of food he eats. It’s insane.

  5. well I thought the first guy might be photoshopped too but people actually do get like this – scary I know – but have a look at this pic – http://thefug.com/files/images/regretful_bodybuilder-282.jpg

it’s quite scary to think that people spend their time to get to this stage. I’m still not convinced that it’s healthy to be an extreme bodybuilder – even without the steroids! It’s definitely not a good look whether you’re a guy or a girl!

  6. Yeah, I totally agree. My boyfriend and I argue about it sometimes. To me it is just another body image disorder. It has to be very unhealthy in the long run. Think of all the stress one must put on one’s body to build that kind of muscle.

The eternal quest to be BIGGER is really no different than the eternal quest to be THINNER. Sometimes I call bodybuilding “Anorexia for Men”

  7. I think for some it can get to that stage – I think it’s part of BDD for some people – I wrote about that here: http://wp.me/pqFbi-6q. But, seeing as how it’s probably only a v. small proportion of the population who put themselves through this – it lays relatively unnoticed in comparison to people who gorge themselves on food and end up obese.
